In my experience reputable financial advisors would not do this, unless so advised by their client.

I believe that Nexia BT made up this ‘revenue’ to allay any misgivings about having a serving minister as a client. Bentley’s Chartered Accountants, the New Zealand firm owning Orion Trust selected to administer Mizzi’s trust, wanted to know where his money was coming from. Wouldn’t we all?

According to the Times of Malta , they had been asking this for months without getting a proper answer until Nexia BT fed them this story: the funds were already in Mizzi’s possession before he became minister.

The statement was of course accepted by the New Zealand firm as I think it exonerated them of any responsibility.
