He has stood by the Prime Minister who publicly humiliated him and the Minister who supplanted him rather than back the woman who shares his life.

Even if he disagreed with her (he didn’t as he clearly admitted that what Konrad Mizzi did was wrong) the correct thing to do would have been not to show up and abstain.

It is one of the reasons why Maltese women of that generation habitually stand in the shadows and have an opinion about nothing when their men are around, and also why women like Marlene Farrugia (who is just a year my senior) stand out.
