In reply to Matthew Camilleri. Exactly - two Labour MPs were elected illegally, in effect, because of mistakes made by the Electoral Commission. Real justice would see them relinquish their seats rather than award a notional additional two seats to the Opposition.

The easiest option is to leave everything as it is now, with the correct number of seat differences.

It would be unconstitutional to get this gap closed to 5 seats for the same reason that it was unconstitutional to leave the gap as 9 seats after the election as the Constitution requires a representative system, meaning that the number of votes corresponds to the number of seats

The truth is that the PN should not have 2 more seats, PL should have 2 less as the electoral commission had given PN two extra seats to represent the shares of the votes. The majority PL had was 7 seats, which is exactly what one can see in parliament

If not mistaken he was referring to the Jason Azzopardi’s court issue. Not only Muscat but also other Labour speakers insisted that by saying that eventually taking the issue up to the European Court, if necessary, was a sign of showing no respect to our constitutional bodies.
