When you’re weaned on parochial politics, your geopolitical insight is compromised by the stereotypical Left-Right tripe that’s fed by the global corporate media. Anything that does not fit that false paradigm is ‘conspiracy theory’. The fact that most of our laws and regulations (crucially, fiscal and economic) come from supranational entities becomes a given, very much like the weather – it’s not worth a thought if you can’t change it.

So our elected representatives attend international conferences and EU fora, and they sign here and there on our behalf, committing us to untold hidden taxes, more control and less freedom, and all along they hardly know what’s causing the effect as they’re too busy trying to understand the instructions for implementation.

But it’s all made very easy for fools. If the EU says ‘jump’ they don’t have to ask ‘how high’, just as you don’t ask ‘how much’ when you receive a bill.
