Hate hate hate, bitter bitter bitter. God, how tiring you people are. I think I’ve done my fair share and way beyond for what you call “this beautiful rock”. Comparisons are odious, I know, but I’ll say that warbling occasionally in a frock is a damn sight easier than living for years on end with your head above the parapet while everybody else is down there with their heads beneath it, reading what you write about nasty and dangerous people.

You didn’t mention that Ira’s song was total crap either, Skype. (Personally I thought that Maxine, who placed third was way best and should’ve gone, but that’s just me).

We need to stop thinking that when we send melodramatic shit we are “going to win”. Why? It’s our usual (totally misplaced) sense of entitlement.

My children are 30, Howard, so it would hardly be “an age bracket I like to attack”. It is, on the other hand, an age bracket I know rather a lot about.

Ira Losco will be 35 in a few weeks. Thirty-five is the turning-point for middle age. There is no way on earth you can get away with pretending to be 20 at that point. But go ahead – no harm in making yourself ridiculous.

And yes, I know her boyfriend. He’s exactly the same age as my son. That should put things into perspective for you. When Ira’s son is 30, she will be 65, not 50. There are certain things in life where age most certainly does matter, because it changes everything.

Don’t see how I said sarcasm is a sign of maturity, or not. I simply said that Maltese people don’t know sarcasm. It can be funny, you know. I hope you weren’t following the live text updates on the BBC last night. You would have been furious with what the amount of sarcasm thrown Ira’s way.

Yes, and she was already ‘showing’ – if not physically, then by the lack of her usual movements on stage, and also by the hideous outfit she had worn, with a dangling cloth or whatever waved in front of her tummy. Very different to her usual energy on stage and to the outfits she usually favours.
