In reply to Edward. Interesting. Clifford Borg Marks ( ex Malta Ambassador to China ) seems to be an 'officer of one of the companies and it's registered in San Lawrenz , Gozo. I wonder was this company set up before or after Sai Mizzi became our representative in Shanghai?

In reply to Daphne Caruana Galizia. It is obvious why this was done. By forcing the motion into one of censuring the PM it allows Labour MPs wiggle room to say they trust in the PM's judgement and not discuss Schembri at all. What one needs to ask is why was this allowed to be done. The Opposition (and not Marlene Farrugia) should be the ones asking for Keith Schembri's head.

Parliament did not ‘boot out’ Richard Cachia Caruana. He resigned. Parliament has no powers over ambassadors. It has no powers of the Prime Minister’s chief of staff, either. If he wished to defy the outcome of the parliamentary motion (should it go against him), he can do so as long as he has the backing of the Prime Minister, who is backing him even now through the worst of it.

If Marlene Farrugia’s motion of censure (as amended) fails, would all the different ways to shed light on this be exhausted?

What is the role/status/power/sentiment of the police with respect to all this?

Considering this and the previous blog entry, I am very sad that such an important pillar of the Maltese economy is currently being tarnished so intensely. The situation is unfortunately bound to get uglier before it gets better.
