Apart from any political issues connected with this tender, it might simply be an economic one. When the second tender is far removed from the first (in this case over €100k) then it is not unusual for the first to withdraw having had second thoughts on their own valuation.

It depends which bits of the private sector. Sandro Chetcuti’s and Silvio Debono’s outfits are in the private sector, but they’re just as shady and backroom-dealing as the government. Electrogas and Vitalis Healthcare are in the private sector too, but nothing about them is correct.

So Keith Kasco did hedge his bets after all. And A. Attard may have been correct. Chef de Cabinet Kasco will then have applied the pressure on Allied because of discovery, not irrespective of it and a tender decision having been taken in January.
