In reply to Brother_Louis. Yes, but if Scotland had left the UK in the first independence referendum then there was a chance of not being in the EU. This time round at least Scotland would have a chance at being in the EU rather than no chance at all. Recent polls say 0.5m Scottish residents would switch their vote, giving a majority to the Yes vote. And you don't have to be pro-SNP to want that vote; you have to be pro EU, which Scotland overwhelmingly is.

The Scottish people had the opportunity to break away from the UK and make a separate arrangement with the EU in 2014 – they rejected the idea. I am not at all convinced that the Scottish people are all lining up to follow Nicola either – the SNP lost their majority in the most recent (very recent) Scottish elections don’t forget.

Nonsense. Scotland had a referendum in 2014 and voted to remain in the UK. Simple as that.

In reply to Brother_Louis. Scotland rejected the independence option because it would get them out of the EU. Now it has become an option for getting back into the EU.

“Don’t let Scotland down”. Really now, could you get more pathetic?

Scotland had its IndyRef in 2014 and rejected independence. The last Scottish election saw the Nats lose their majority. They also rejected the offer of full fiscal autonomy (they ran a mile from that little smoking grenade) – but still they want it all.

They want a pipeline of dole money from London plus whingeing rights – well, as they say “you can’t have a goat and have the money for the goat”.
