Brexit is worse for EU than for Britain. Britain will mostly do fine. Remember that a lot of Malta's financial services was built on tightening regulations in UK in eg gaming market forcing firms to look elsewhere and relocate to Malta. An 'independent' UK can attract all those firms back.

EU has to take note that underneath the Brexit xenophobia there were solid reasons for discontent, and reform it's institutions accordingly.

And for both sides... chill out! the doom and gloom with regards to the result is being overblown. The final outcome will depend much more on the actual implementation (which is unprecedented and therefore mostly unknowable) than on the referendum result.

Scotland? Really? I live in Scotland, in Glasgow to be precise. I'm surrounded by university students and young post-grads who are only just beginning to make our way in the world.

The mood this morning is that of anger and frustration. We've been outnumbered by an older generation who are reminiscing and pining for "a Great Britain of years gone by". And now it will be us who suffer the consequences.

I work with the NHS. I pay income tax. I pay council tax. Hearing Boris Johnson speak about "EU migrants scrounging on taxes and ruining the NHS" is plain insulting. He and Nigel Farage have succeeded in making racism acceptable again - that is their legacy and this disaster is what they will go down in history for.

In all fairness Daphne, the vote towards Brexit was swayed by people who remember the Soviet Union and a divided Berlin. Young men and women whose livelihood will be affected the most by this vote, have voted in favour of the UK's EU membership.

Rather than not appreciating the safety and security Europe has enjoyed since the early nineties, it is the bigoted, ignorant fat man at the pub that made the vote what it is.
