You are NOT the only Maltese living in Britain who is commenting here. The vast majority of people commenting beneath my posts on the subject are Maltese living in Britain. None of them voted Leave – but that may have something to do with the fact that they are half your age and work there.

You didn’t have the vote, I did. Your opinion is just that, an opinion. Your opinion is worth sweet FA compared to my vote and the 17.5 million others who voted to leave.

Should Malta come to leave the EU no one will take any notice.

Brexiteers really do not understand the connectedness of today’s world.

“In Malta you are limited to information” is not only grammatically incorrect, it is factually baseless. What privileged access to information could one possibly have simply by virtue of living in Britain and not working for, say, the PM’s office or MI5?

Little Britain is not a reference to the size of the country or its geopolitical significance. It’s a particular mindset illustrated most accurately by the exceptionalism you claim in your final paragraph.

The “shock waves and financial earthquake” of the Brexit vote have not left Britain unscathed and yet you are delighted. Perhaps you believe the drop in Sterling’s value and the inevitable contraction of Britain’s economy are signs of Britain’s greatness rather than of Brexiteers having shot themselves in the foot.

If you wanted to live outside the EU 20 years ago, you could have done the simple thing and come back home to Malta. But obviously, you didn’t like life outside the EU because otherwise you’d have done exactly that.

Maltese people voted on equal terms with the British in this referendum, which means that Maltese people have as much right as the British to comment on the outcome as interested parties.
