Scotland cannot secede from Britain and ‘remain’ a member of the EU, because Scotland is NOT a member of the EU. The U.K. is.

If and when Scotland achieves independence from Britain, it will have to apply for membership, and the process will begin from scratch just as it did for, say, Malta.

You can’t learn a language in a crash course – not for university admittance. Britain has a higher level of tolerance because it’s language is so difficult and also, and this is more important, because its universities depend on the very high fees those students pay, especially the ones from China.

But try getting into a German of French university with a certificate of fluency, for example – it’s not possible. Even if you could, you would never keep up. How would you manage in seminars, at lectures, writing papers? Not even Italy is an option anymore, because young Maltese people don’t speak Italian as the older ones do. They no longer watch Italian television.

The problem is the language, Fabian. To get into universities anywhere else, you need the language. And not just at Advanced level, either, but complete fluency.

Worse still is that they underestimated the determination of fanatics, bigots, fundametalists and extremists for now demaning all sorts of ''rights'' in a new ''independent'' UK, that were not acceptable in the UK as a member state.
