I was referring to the fact that, regardless of what they think they voting for, a party’s electoral programme is actually what they are voting for.

When you vote a party into a power, you don’t “give it a mandate”. You give it a mandate to implement its electoral programme.

The time has come to hold them and politicians accountable when spinning lies whilst campaigning.

It is simply unacceptable that misrepresentations like that on the NHS pledge are simply shrugged off. It should be made a criminal act to deliberately mislead people.

The idea that, to be democratic, we have to “respect your opinion” is another fallacy, I’m afraid. Opinions are not sacred, or intrinsically worthy of respect.
