And you can’t be more wrong about that. Children leave home not because they’re thrown out, but because they want to. If they don’t want to leave home, you have a problem right there: with their psychology.

Generally, they leave home because they go to university or have found work in another city.

And that’s the reason it doesn’t happen in Malta, not because Maltese parents are more loving. The fact that Maltese people do not leave their parents’ home until they marry, or because they’re in their 30s and with no sign of marrying, is not a good thing, but a bad one.

“Our custom” – you’re just as bad as they are, thinking that only the Maltese love their children or look out for them. Most Maltese only love their children in the sense that they see them as assets, productive or otherwise, and as extensions of themselves. Look at the way they treat them.

I think they’re trying their damnedest to lend credence to the truism that the English care more about their dogs than they do about their children.
