I doubt Decameron got the point. The sink hole in Brexiters' worldview is that there's fog over the Channel so the continent's cut off.

The thing is even if you take the EU only, there are 3 million EU citizens living in the UK, and 1.2 million UK citizens living in the other 27 EU countries.

If you just look at the numbers, you'd think it's the UK who have the bum deal, but most of those 3 million are young, fit and working, thus contributing to the economy.

The 1.2 million Brits are primarily older, retired people, living in places like Spain, France and Portugal. Not only are they not contributing to the economy, they are a bigger drain on resources. They are more likely to be sick and when sick, they will be more seriously ill and thus treatment will be more expensive.

So if the UK manages to get those 3 million EU citizens off the NHS bill somehow (how can that happen if they are paying NI?), then the EU will certainly get the UK to pay for their 1.2 million citizens. If someone sits down and does the maths, they'd probably find that the UK is actually on top.
