It is sad how people get caught in a web of their own creation.

Even though they realise that they are going up the wrong path, they delude themselves that things will turn out well in the end.

They live in denial, and when the truth finally hits them in the face, they cannot accept, or are just sorry, that they have made a mess.

I must be honest and repeat what I have written again and again, that this does not apply only to EUexiters, but also to EU politicians and technocrats who mulishly pursue a bigger Europe, ignoring the consequences of their polices.

Any number of Brexiters have left the scene and left others to sort out the problems.

On the other hand, Manuel Barroso has found himself a job as an adviser to an international bank on EU matters. This is not the behaviour that one expects from a just-retired politician who led the EU, but I am not surprised that he sees nothing unethical in his move. He always struck me as being that sort of a person.
