Ed Miliband may not have been leadership material but I sensed something more humane about him as opposed to Cameron’s single-mindedness, intent on doing whatever it took to win an election. Even if that meant gambling millions of lives.

Watching Question Time just a few days before the referendum, I was struck by Miliband coming across as the only genuine one on the Remain side of the panel. Someone in the audience had the nerve to ask him about migration, and you could see him barely holding back his anger as he reminded them about his Jewish parents who had to move to the UK for their own safety.

The sad thing is that you will never get this kind of passion from Corbyn, a far left Eurosceptic (and I’m pretty left myself) who should absolutely not be trusted with the UK’s future relationship, or lack thereof, with the EU.

And I just cannot believe she is the same age I am – I thought she must be 65.

She’s either had an epiphany overnight or realised that re-positioning her politics will give her an advantage for Tory leadership.

Some very obscure forces at work in Britain. No wonder they’ll label everyone else as the elite.

Woman is the equivalent of man. Do you say “this gentleman” when talking about a man? No. Well, then.

When you want to show respect you use a person’s name. “This lady” is not respectful at all. “Andrea Leadsom” is.

With due respect, “lady” is more respectful than “woman”. I very much admire both Theresa May and Andrea Leadsom, both have achieved much in their careers.

My comment merely differentiated that Leadsom had a career before she entered the bubble of Westminister. She has “real world” experience of change management, crisis management and dealing with extensive business negotiations.

Skills much needed by the next PM. However, she has been very canny in her own personal financial arrangements and structured her investments in a way that can and probably will be presented by the media as tax avoiding.

Most people cannot differentiate between legitimate tax planning and tax evasion which is criminal in its intent and execution.

Theresa May in contrast has no such baggage and therefore more likely to appeal to a wider number of the UK population, even if the Conservative Party members who will choose between the two shortlisted MPs will be Brexiters in their demograhic and therefore lean toward the Gove/Leadsom candidates.
