It is true that he was ignored but he was always there: advisor to Alfred Sant, unofficial advisor to the Labour Party and winning the respect of Joseph Muscat with whom he had worked for a time.

He was the one who supported Labour in their anti-Eu and anti-VAT campaigns. , He also advocated the Labour media to ‘laugh’ at PN administrations, degrading them into ultimate failure at general elections.

Mario Vella may well have written Stasi reports himself. People living East of the wall weren’t only spied on by the Stasi. They also spied on each other.

As a privileged “Westerner” living east of the wall, Vella could well have been recruited to spy on staff and other students. This is no small matter. Mario Vella has been largely ignored. It’s time he was questioned directly about his past.
