Exactly. Eddie Fenech Adami may not be a Winston Churchill, a Mahatma Ghandi or a Nelson Mandela. But not voting until we got one of those to lead the Opposition would not have given us that 25-year respite from the corrupt dictatorial Labour Party.

This breather, bar 22 months of Labour under Alfred Sant, allowed us to rebuild the economy, join the EU and the Eurozone and gave most of us our first taste of freedom and democracy.

But the price of liberty is eternal vigilance. And stupidly most Maltese put their trust in the same politicians who raped and pillaged our country in the past.

The whole point of going out to vote is to elect the best party available. It is pointless to wait until the perfect party or the perfect leader comes along. They never will.

The economy is booming because it is literally awash with dirty money being laundered, and this is killing off the REAL economy which is the bedrock of our survival.

In 2013 you could not trust the Nationalists to govern for another five years, but you trusted Muscat’s party instead. Enough said.

Ten years ago, Martin Scicluna was consultant – albeit on immigration and defence – to that government which took the “reckless” decision he is complaining about. His main contribution to immigration policy was the introduction of concentration camps where immigrants were locked up in inhuman conditions.

Incidentally, only God knows why he was engaged as government security advisor, just because he had had a desk job with the British army, at about the time of the Duke of Wellington. Oh, and he also went to Sandhurst where they trained him to talk like Jeeves.

Why there are so many birds in the picture? I rarely see any wildlife in Malta except for flocks of hamalli. Are they trying to make us believe that the towers will blend in with the environment everyone would hope to see someday?

In reply to Mark Vassallo. Someone must be under extreme pressure to halve the number of floors approved. Perhaps also due the other couple of towers proposed a few hundred feet away in Tigne', one of them set against stricter parameters years ago. It is also rather clear why the move to put up the block lining Qui-si-sana was so short sighted in the first place. Basically killed the real potential of the site.
