I don’t think you quite understood how the payment structure works. It is only the applicant who pays 650,000 euros for his/her passports. Dependents pay variable sums around 50,000 euros. Of those 700 passport-buyers, only 200 are applicants. The other 500 are dependents.

Mhux hekk. Selling citizenship is WRONG in and of itself. Who you sell it to and for how much are secondary issues.

Selling citizenship is especially wrong when you are concomitantly selling entrance tickets to a club without the consent of the other members.

They’ll be using some of it to buy votes by distributing goodies. As Muscat knows well, the Maltese are suckers for any freebies and cronyism is in our blood.

In the EU Commission’s list of priorities Malta’s shameful and abusive passports sale must be at the bottom of a pile as high as the Gasan monstrosity.

The EU is falling apart on most fronts and no one in Brussels is going to bother with this scam however great the number of ineffectual MEPs condemning it.
