I can’t stand another five years of this after 2018. I hope the Maltese population comes to its senses and votes appropriately next time round.

As it is, a Nationalist government has its work cut out for the next couple of decades or so to sort out this mess.

In reply to Godfrey Leone Ganado. The 18-year contract is truly strange especially when you see that all other Bumi Armada clients have taken a firm contract with an additional option to extend. The Malta FSU contract is on Firm Charter throughout the 18 years (please refer to the table I posted earlier).

I had noticed and commented on another site about the rust on the tank in the foreground photo (first pic). Expanding the photo, it appears that one of the rust spots is visible on a welding seam. I can barely imagine what this vessel will look like when she arrives, let alone what state she will be in after just one year.

In reply to Antoine Vella. As I said, I stand to be corrected. I am no expert but this is a bit foolish in my opinion. Who in his right mind would be willing to tow such a behemoth three quarters of the way around the world when it could be done using its own power?

I’m sure that during the MEPA public hearing in 2014 we were told that it would have no engines. I remember objectors saying that, in case of need, the tanker would not be able to manouvre.
