I’d further differentiate when speaking about the economy. The black economy is only sustained by corresponding values, as you mention. However, the black economy constitutes the bulk of Muscat’s rationale. A falsely inflated economy remains a false economy.

They do know how to make money but with one caveat: that whatever means to make money, goes, ie legitimate or not.

For them money is a commodity, it is there to be used and flashed about just like a VIP pass, literally as a substitute to class or culture. They cannot earn or steal class or culture, so they turn to money instead to fill that void.
