You might note that before the last election the main news outlets were blowing all alleged corruption out of proportion, they were hounding Arriva and equating it with the then government and treating scandals from the point of view of the opposition.

Labour excel at ignoring or minimizing all the corrupt contracts, positions of trust, failures and clear sale of everything possible and the main media houses mostly support the travesty. TVM, Xarabank etc would have us believe that we have ascended to heaven.

We have never seen this level of concerted marketing and butt licking at the expense of the public’s right to balanced information.

The public’s ignorance is maintained by the countries institutions who, in a truly democratic state, should safeguard its very democracy.

It has been a year since we discovered that the government of Malta has guaranteed Electrogas Malta’s loans from the Bank of Valletta, pending the European Commission’s clearance of state aid and related concerns.

Six months ago, the government told us that the European Commission was still tweaking its approval. That is some long tweak.
