Think of it in another way: if the European Parliament wanted to reject a candidate not because of his lack of experience or professionalism, but because he said that he would audit the EP's spending of money, then Council should be able to veto that decision too. Just an example, of course, to demonstrate that 2 is *sometimes* better than 1.

I don’t get it to be honest. If the Council can just veto, why have the Parliament vote? Sorry, this is something I personally don’t understand as I see it weakening democracy.

When has Leo Brincat ever contributed one iota of any effectiveness to the country? He has always been a ‘yes’ man to the leader of the labour party of the time. He will agree to anything unconditionally to whatever the party dictates. Useless wimp.

In reply to canon. I very much agree with you. Why go through all the hassle for MEPS to discuss and vote when the committee of ministers will scrap and ignore all. It seems that birds of a feather together. Very disappointed.

Leo Brincat is like the neighbour’s despised and universally unpopular kid gatecrashing your children’s party.
Politics dictate that you can’t toss him out on his ear, so he spends the time, and despite your best efforts, being ignored and excluded from all the fun and games by the rest of the children, stuffing his face to pass the time.
