Anybody from the private sector would be delighted to take that position – not for material gain (though that too) but for professional reasons.

The fact that there is nobody qualified in public life does not mean that there is nobody qualified in the private sector. There are plenty who are: Malta’s financial services sector is teeming.

Cocainosaurus failed miserably. Petroleosaurus was grilled and trashed by the MEPs. This was easily predictable. If the Council of Ministers were to follow the clear direction indicated by the MEPs, I wonder which dinosaur would follow.

Ramon, although I agree with your sentiment, I have to say that I hate the expression you used, “I couldn’t have put it better myself”.

The expression implies that whoever writes it thinks himself/herself a better writer than the one he/she is commenting on.

‘…clear up your tax haven…’ is beyond any cosmetic spin we can put on the sector.

And before anyone whines how legal everything is and avoidance is not evasion, just consider whose interests you hold and why you expect no-one poke their nose into your business.

It’s not Muscat who will destroy the credibility of the industry but an obtuse smug refusal to engage in innovation and keep up with the times, like any other industry. Unless cartels apply.

Would the three Nationalist MEP votes, had they voted for Brincat, made any differenve to the result? What would be the reaction of the Maltese people, had these three voted IN FAVOUR of corruption?
