A generation in economic/historical terms is the term it takes from birth to adulthood. But the real meaning of ‘generation’ is people who are contemporaneous in terms of life and experience, so it is actually shorter than that: around 10 years. Every 10 years, everything changes dramatically: clothes, music, politics, fashions. Sometimes, there are dramatic changes in historical development which make some generations ‘longer’ and others ‘shorter’.
