Yes, I sound tetchy because I patiently watch streams of the same error pouring in, and then finally I snap.

And I snap because really, how does somebody NOT notice through simple observation that the verb is ‘made a mistake’ and not ‘did a mistake’.

But the one that really gets me is BIRDS OF THE SAME FEATHER FLOCK TOGETHER. I mean, it’s bad enough that anybody would want to use that old chestnut as though it were novel and revelatory, but then they don’t even get it right.

I press delete on all of those.

Oh, and here’s another: “at its best”. It’seems all over the place, and it’s especially ludicrous when what people mean is ‘at its worst’.

“Corruption at its best” – errrm, no, actually – I think you mean at its worst.
