How ridiculous you are. It really shows that so many people on this benighted island have no idea of what constitutes appropriate behaviour.

If you are the health minister and there has been a major incident including loss of life (which has made the world news), you don’t tweet that you have set up a psychological support helpline while you’re at the gym and just carry on with your workout.

You head for the shower, you get dressed, and you tell your chauffeur (who is waiting outside on taxpayer’s money) to rush you down to the state hospital’s A & E department. Then you spend 10 minutes there showing concern and support for staff, and you go to the office.

True, the least one would expect of a Health Minister during an incident which witnessed five instant catastrophic fatalities is to drop everything, scrub up, immediately head to the state hospital A&E department, and start feverishly trying to bring ashes back to life.

I used to work out there, and it’s full of a lot of people who are like that. I’ve seen Fearne there on several occasions, even during office hours.

Unbelievable – a tragedy like this within sight of that gym and he has the cheek to stay on the machines “cool as a cucumber”.

Had he been locked in some private office or whatever, doing absolutely eff all, at least nobody would have known.
