It is no longer the fifth largest economy. At the current exchange rate, it definitely falls behind France in terms of GDP.

Tax laws were never the prerogative of the EU, so nothing much will change there.

Brexit is a blow to both. It makes no economic sense from either side of the channel, but while exports to the UK account for only 9% of the EU`s total, the EU buys 45% of the UK's exports.

The markets definitely do not agree with you. While the euro has remained stable, sterling has tanked. While the EU will maintain the present trade agreements with the other economic trade blocs. the UK will have to start from scratch.

And except for Australia which accounts for one percent of British exports, the world's trading blocs particularly the largest one, the US, have given Dr Liam Fox (like Maltese politicians he likes the affectation, to the amusement of the British press) short shrift.

But perhaps un-decommissioning the Royal yacht Brittannia and relaunching it as an extraordinary British roving trade embassy will work wonders, unless it sinks like the sterling on the way.

What exactly did Malta do for the British? I'd say it's the other way round. You might fancy living on the equivalent of Lampedusa and speaking only Maltese, but I sure as hell don't. And the alternative to that was being a French colony and an extension of Algeria in that respect.

No, I definitely wouldn't - but you cannot deny that it has substantial outreach, whatever the audience's views may be.

Those comments are harmful in general.
