The definition of “populist” is wrong – it applies more to “fascist”.

President Obama himself was a populist leader when he twice got elected because he promised the people what they wanted. What do we want, leaders who don’t care what the people want?

Choosing Greece as one of the countries for his last tour abroad, was a master stroke for President Obama, and carries great significance.

His defence of democracy, which he admitted at the same time, is not practiced in a perfect way, is timely. He was right to stress the way in which democracy is practised.

Democracy has a practical meaning only in the way that the people who defend it, live it, cherish it and strengthen it. Populism starts with individualism, and the modern tendency to emphasise rights more than responsibility tends to lead to individualism.

The way things are going far-right politicians are gaining popularity very fast. Like I have already said, politicians need to wake up and be in tune with the general sentiment of the population.
