This is a video that is all about multilevel marketing- or network marketing- and exposes the reality of being involved in one, and the ways in which it targets and lies to people. You'll notice towards the end that actually, this sort of this is very popular in poorer countries, or among poorer communities and people desperate for a better life. That being said, people of all backgrounds fall for this, and it is very easy to if you don't know what is going on.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6MwGeOm8iI

But I am sharing this for another more pertinent reason. Listen carefully to the 'success' stories MLMs present. Do they sound familiar? It is a rule of thumb of mine that any organisation that starts to pressure its people to 'think positive' is up to no good. Sure, marketing departments tend to use it a lot but that does not make it any more effective and still has a terrible knock on effect.

There are many self help books in the world, but none are more popular than those that sell you these sort of 'success' stories and dreams. Tony Robins is a big one, but they come in all shapes and sizes. NLP is part of all this too, and is written about in many books and taught via video too. Malta is a hotbed for this sort of nonsense. It is, in fact, the most popular place for this sort of self-delusion.

The issue is that these people are not actually selling anything except a promise. And if that promise doesn't come true, it is all your fault for not thinking positive enough. I read a book by Jon Ronson who detailed in one of the chapters how this sort of self blaming goes on behind the scenes of 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire'. It is all very sad. It is the mantra of Scientology too, which goes a step further and gives you 'levels' which you have to complete- read pay for- and puts huge pressures on you to pay up and recruit more people to make your level and so on and so forth. It is quite frightful.

Now think a bit about Malta and the Labour Party. Muscat has been big on the 'Think Positive" slogans and cat calls. My question is, what is he selling? Why would he use such mantras that are always used by con artists and snake oil merchants? Has he created a Scientology-esque level-up system within the PL? Or is he just mirroring the very common value system of the 'Think Positive' con that has taken hold of this country? Or are these jobs being handed out to fulfil such delusional thoughts of being able to manipulate the universe with your mind?

I think everyone should watch this video. It won't just guard you from MLMs, but it will also make you far more aware of how you can be manipulated into believing that reality is just perception ( sound familiar again?). Beware of people who provide you with miracle stories and fantasies come true. They are always a big fat hoax.

Let's hope legal action is taken and sooner rather than later, so that this sorry saga can be stopped in its tracks.

This is a rhetorical question but someone should put it to Konrad Mizzi anyway: what was his interest in endorsing a company that had failed not one but two due diligence tests?
