Hindsight, my eye. There’s an entire archive of thousands of posts here on the site which log the fact that it was foresight. And that’s exactly why people were so pissed off at me – because what I said then they construed as ‘obsessed propaganda’ in direct conflict with their views, and now they are forced to admit that I was right. I have never deviated from my views about Muscat and his party, because there was no need to. When you make an assessment based on facts and knowledge, in context, it’s usually correct.

No, they were not right about Arriva and the problems were actually the result of a well-organised media campaign. You forget that I’m a professional communicator. When you watch things like that unfold, you see ‘things happening’. I see a campaign and deconstruct it into its various parts of tactics and strategy. It’s automatic – as with doctors who, when looking at people at a party, notice the lesions and the limps and the scoliosis where other people see only clothes and make-up.

I think you mistake me for a politician or a campaign worker. I’m neither. As a columnist, my job is to write what I think – that is, my carefully considered opinion.

My carefully considered opinion, based on close – in some cases, far too close – observation is that those who switched to voting for Muscat in the last general election have one thing in common despite their disparate social and educational backgrounds: they lack emotional intelligence and are not, overall, particularly intelligent.

Right about the Arriva debacle? Is the far, far more expensive Autobuses de Leon much better? It hasn`t solved the traffic problem either, has it?

And did Austin Gatt treat the press with the anything close to the contempt shown byLabour Ministers?

And what about the oil scandal. How many Nationalist ministers were on the take? And how many of Gonzi`s ministers opened accounts in Panama to populate them with their ill-gotten gains from this scandal?

The Nationalists were not perfect, but compared to these looters, they`re in a different league altogether.
