In reply to Stephen Forster. The PN had plenty of time to sort out the appointment of judges, it benefited them of course. Now we get this, the PN is to blame too.

Joseph Muscat did the other way, because as you know Muscat thinks laterally, literally. A lateral transfer of Mile End to the Courts of Law.

Let me mention just a few – Joe Cassar, who left a huge mess in court behind him and it took his successor months to sort things out; the niece of George Pullicino who barely made an appearance in court and suddenly made it to the bench because as he himself said ‘she served us well’..and there are many more but let me stop here. And most of the lawyers surrounding and working from the Mifsud Bonnici office made it, strangely enough, to the bench. And there are many more!

Certainly PN did things in a more subtle way, but same result. PN had almost 25 years to reform at least the appointment of lawyers to the bench but they never did…why? easy to answer – when in power it is really difficult to let it go!

Really, when? I don’t recall the Nationalist government appointing its officials to the bench, and they certainly didn’t appoint any people known to have covered up cocaine deals.

You know what happened when Noel Arrigo was found to have done what he did. And if you don’t, you need to read up.

If the Chief Justice is worth his salt he should make sure that he assigns all cases involving drugs, and especially cocaine, to judge Abela. Abela is a confirmed expert, after all.

Otherwise he would look like he is evading the issue and an accomplice in cr…..no rather in error of judgement.
We will wait and see. With bated breath.
