Over the past year Maltese banks have been losing their US correspondent banks almost as fast as Joseph Muscat has been losing his hair, and struggling in the process.

Apparently the government did not bat an eye-lid until this bank was on the brink of losing its own.

Then it assembled and sent what passes for a high-powered delegation to New York, under cover of darkness, to plead with US banks into reversing their decisions.

And were it not for a Gozitan yokel, who almost mistook them for a delegation from Lilliput, we would still be blissfully unaware of the problem. Carry on, financiers.
