The Democrats are in a bad fix. The House Republicans will have 238 seats in the next Congress, and Senate Republicans will have 51. Meanwhile, out in the states, the GOP will control 33 governorships and 67 legislative chambers.

The Washington Post reports that in the last eight years, the Democrats have lost 10.2% of their Senate seats, 19.3% of their House seats, 20.3 % of their legislatures, and 35.7% of their governorships. These are the lowest Democrat Party numbers since 1928 – yes, 1928.

Can things be worse for the Dems? No. I think that they can only get better, if the Democratic party moves away from its left-wing policies which actually overreach into extremism in some cases.

Hillary Clinton’s baggage had put a lot of pressure on the presidential election, and if it wasn’t for Trump, Republicans would have faired much better on the presidential election, most probably achieving the same level of success obtained in the house elections.

In reply to callixtus. The oval office might not tame Trump, but the checks and balances inherently present in the system will. I like him about as much as you do, but this is hardly Nazi Germany.
