I agree with you that the world at large has huge problems that need attention. This charger issue is but one little thing that could and should be resolved to make this planet just that little bit better. Standardisation would do away with the need of a new charger when one buys a new phone and the manufacturers would have to comply. Just think of the tonnes of copper, plastics and other rare elements that would be spared.

If you’re dumping your phone you might as well dump your charger too. Or, if you really want to cut down waste, just keep using the old phone and don’t change it at all.

The whole point of this blog post, however, is that Malta, the EU, and the whole world for that matter, are facing much more pressing problems than this. It’s not about phone chargers as such but about an MEP making a fuss about the matter but ignoring other more serious issues.
