Things are never simple. So what do you suggest, that we should just grin and bear it. Bank failure causes pain, but if banks are continually protected from their own scandalous and corrupt decisions, come what may, one ends up bringing the whole system crashing down.

The thing is that by the time that can happen most of these contracts would probably have already failed.
Failed for us that is, not for the perpetrators who will benefit from the failures, by design.

I agree with you completely. Contracts such as this bind the government and not the party. So I think the PN is threading on dangereous grounds which will backfire if such promises cannot be honoured without incurring extensive contract breach penalties

This should be accompanied by a declaration that all secret contracts will be made public. In the light of what the Malta Labour Party did on the eve of the 1987 election, which they knew they were going to lose, it might be necessary to declare that any official who becomes involved in granting a similar anticipated presidential amnesty covering crimes not yet adjudicated, will be subject to an impeachment process.

The Nationalist Party should start by barring its candidates from holding activities in illegal places like the Montecristo Estate, and not accepting their advertising either. They should lead by example.

The Nationalist Party will draw support if it shows that it means business.

Complacency about corruption, big corruption, will drive it into years in Opposition at Malta’s expense.

Malta needs an honest government now like a fish needs water.
