You never know, the idiot may have not emptied the trash can or else did not delete the “sent items” folder. A friend of mine got caught out cheating on his girlfriend like that. He deleted specific emails or email conversations but forgot to delete the “sent items” folder.

Bloody hell! Using your personal email address for work-related matters is not a mistake or an error of judgment, but downright deliberate.

Trying to justify it as a mistake you made because you belong to the older generation is an attempt to take the piss out of whoever is listening to you.

I work at my family firm and even in my position I have never, ever used my personal email when for any sort of work related correspondence.

Oh sure, because he has been living under a rock these past 2 years while the rest of us were treated to the whole ‘Hillary Clinton e-mails’ scandal.

At least she was investigated and it all came back as nothing untoward going on. Maybe the Minister should follow her example and hand over his password to the police and be investigated properly.

Emails can never be deleted without trace. They continue to exist on the server. The problem is gaining access to the server.

But there’s no need even for that, as the current situation has shown. Emails are always between two people and sometimes more. When one person deletes them, the other/s still have the entire exchange.
