If anything, judging by the number of posts arguing Busuttil should stick to pro-PN cronyism, I’m afraid his path would be blocked by these moaners. It happened to Gonzi.

Only journalists publish leaked information. Political parties use it in other ways.

When ‘regime change’ becomes likely, people immediately begin seeking to curry favour with the ‘other side’, to consolidate their personal position. One of the best ways to do this, if you’re a government insider but still want to win favour secretly with the Opposition, is to tip them off about this and that.

Vanessa Frazier is the all-time expert in this – with several people on both sides of the fence thinking they’re the only ones in her confidence.

If I can read that type well enough, I’d say that right now she’s secretly gushing all over Roberta Metsola and leaking information to her to win her trust, having worked out that if the Nationalists win, she’ll be Foreign Minister.

I don’t think the previous administration was plagued by leaks (ironically unlike this one).

I do not seem to remember that the the Opposition lived off leaks. For one thing it had no reason to. It had Pullicino Orlando and Franco Debono to do the lifting for them.

Besides I am still of the belief that a professional is a professional . And no I’m not being naive.

There is as much chance of something being an insider job then if handled by someone who is obviously not ‘one of us’. In fact I’d go as to say that there is more of a chance for obvious reasons

That wasn’t cheek but campaign acumen. The trouble with lawyers, and hence with the Nationalist Party, is that they are overly preoccupied with facts and evidence.

Because of this they labour the wrong points and miss others.

And yet, Joseph Muscat had the cheek to come out with an electoral campaign battle cry based on the LIE that Labour people were discriminated against blatantly.

This brings to mind a line from a poem I studied for my English A-Level, which I shall reproduce with a bit of poetic licence –

[If, like me, you had bothered to see the facts,
if you had experienced first hand a real meritocracy ,
ignoring political opinion and frequently doing so positively discriminating (still discrimination)
in favour of Labour-leaning persons over Nationalists]

The Nationalists have to understand that it’s pretty pointless trying to be civil or polite with somebody who has no idea that these two words exist.

They will only take advantage and make the best of it.

The Nationalist Party made big mistakes in this regard and for these they’ve had to pay a very high price.

They have to get cracking and move on at this point, as the election is getting closer and there still seems to be no strategy to lead voters who are sick of Labour corruption – especially switchers (or ex-Nationalists).

This is going to result in the Nationalists losing the election, yet again, despite all the scandals raining down on us day in day out.
