It’s rather like sending John Dalli, Karmenu Vella, Leo Brincat and Cyrus Engerer “up to Brussels.” There are bad apples everywhere and they still remain the exceptions in a long term context. Whilst justice must be served it is often the legal system itself that must first be convinced of it in order for action to be possible and this takes a horrible amount of time and convincing. Often the trampled have to regain strength first to do this.

It is only the norm if we allow it to be so. The process is first internal. Use a focus you can redefine.

I’m really sorry for Keith Schembri being terminally ill and all.

Look what happens when a person is a real miser. Money cannot cheat death however rich a person is. That is one of the best things God has ever made.

I have a suggestion for Mr. Schembri: first of all I hope you recover from your illness. If not, give all the riches you accumulated from money laundering to the people in need, and leave enough for your wife and children. This might put your conscience at rest.

I agree. The biggest influence is always the home, and St Aloysius College was attractive to to a particular kind of parent. It was the parents who produced such dull, flawed and unimaginative sons. I know some men who went to that school and who are completely different, because their parents were.

Well, yes, to people with no brains and who can’t see the obvious: that if it were untrue, I would have been hit first by a press statement from the Department of Information and then by a massive law suit.

They did that even when I reported, truthfully, that Konrad Mizzi had been seen in a clinch with his communications aide and that his wife’s departure to China is permanent, not ‘just for a job’.

So let alone.

They tried the same tactic when I reported that both Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri had set up companies in Panama and trusts in New Zealand. First they tried to make me look like a liar (but without suing me, of course), then they had the General Workers Union report on its front page that I was in collusion “with a businessman who didn’t win the power station tender” (there wasn’t a tender). Then the Panama Papers story broke right across the world and they went into panic mode.

Well, my lot weren’t 13-14, because I was there at sixth form for two years – so they were 16, 17 and 18. If you’re still going on hikes wearing a fleece and accompanied by a priest at that age, and singing about Jesus, you have a problem that’s going to erupt some time around middle age – which is, in fact, exactly what happened to some my contemporaries who suddenly realised at 40 that Jesus isn’t watching their every move and went nuts, doing in middle age all the stuff they should have done at 17.

Most people read only headlines, and many people don’t even read those. But in general, people of all kinds get their news from the HEADLINES and stand-firsts they spot when scrolling through their Facebook newsfeed. They will only click that story open if they are particularly riveted, which is rarely.

The readers of this website are a very particular market segment (apologies for the marketing terminology, but that is what it amounts to). You cannot extrapolate from them to the rest of society.
