So start pestering your close PN-voting friends to urge the Opposition to organise a massive protest when the EU VIPs are here for the Presidency. That will create an international spotlight on Malta, and importantly, other EU countries will realise the flaws within the EU and maybe one day, Muscat seeing himself in disrepute will be a strict warning that the people of Malta is not to be messed around with. Sitting at home sipping tea and eating cookies will surely get the Maltese people nowhere.

In reply to Tabatha_White. Excusing or victimising the EU will get you nowhere. You MUST, whether you like it or not, admit that the EU has let us all down. Of course, it is no Police, but it can and is duty-bound to fight corruption. Hearing those idiots Donald Tusk, Juncker and Schulz praise Malta and encourage Muscat to keep on riding roughshod over everyone shows that the EU just couldn't be bothered with anything, because only cash matters in Brussels.

You were invited as proof of approval for Joseph Muscat. You were invited to provide bulking out at photo op time. This is not a government that does anything on pure cultural merits. In this climate, one does not oblige.

A number of comments here make you think that they are written by small children expecting Brussels to correct whatever is wrong with our sovereign government. This is the government we deserve, and if polls are anything to go by, the government we are going to have for at least another six years.

My comment was not inspired by the Christmas concert in Rome, but by the reactions in Italy, including that of the new mayor, to the new scandals, which in Malta would be classified as rumours or allegations countered with shouts of “Prove it”.

To my mind, “hosting” in your own office (the Office of the Prime Minister, in this case) a private company that is helping three high officers, serving in the same office, to open secret companies that will be populated with new unexplained funds, includes and goes beyond, patronage of the new mafia in Malta.

Such ignorance of basic protocols and formal roles should have set alarm bells ringing.
I don’t know which is worse: that our president and prime minister don’t understand such matters, or that they do but ignore them to our collective detriment.
