I actually think pwg’s comment deserves some credit in the sense that yes in parliament Busuttil is strong and strikes the right chords.

However in Malta in order to show charisma you have to be arrogant and shameless. Not just by what one says but how one says it. That’s what keeps Joseph Muscat up in the polls. That’s what impresses Il Piccolo Mondo di Don Camillo. Not politics. ‘Smajtu x’qallu kif gabu zibel?’ That is what people in this shit hole expect.

I believe that “sakran” as an adjective exists too. That means drunk. Xurban is one who drank… inebriated maybe. “Kien xurban” means he drank a little too much but not drunk as such. The minister who goes to work after Sappers is xurban. When he staggered back from the bar to his room to raid the mini bar – he was very likely sakran or “fis-sakra”.
