Where did this word ‘thusly’ come from? I see it regularly in Maltese writing and am fascinated. It’s ‘thus’ not thusly – and in any case, that kind of word is struck out by sensible editors as standard.

I disagree. In a game of votes one does not imagine themselves in an ideal situation (i.e. assume that everyone is intelligent and vote according to their conscience) and act thusly, but rather be practical and act according to the current real situation (i.e. people are not always interested in what you do, but who you are) and exploit that as far as legally possible.

Anyway, I don’t really care that you think I’m demeaning Demarco by saying that his name brings votes, and whatever you infer from that says more about you than about me. I am just stating a fact. I am not so sheltered that I think that one’s reputation and name do not matter in a game of votes.

One point I see missing from Mario De Marco’s post is his unreserved support for Simon Busuttil and a reprimand to his supporters who keep whingeing, to cut the crap and help Simon Busuttil become the next prime minister of this forsaken country.
