Long haul economy flights are actually very cheap – a couple of hundred dollars at most, and often much less. What bumps up the costs of tickets is taxes and levies on access to airspace which are a fixed cost, regardless of the ticket type.

Travel agents only earn commission on the net flight price. That means a higher commission for selling a more expensive ticket.

Bonnici knew this. Now we need to work out why he did Bianchi Travel a favour.
