A person of sound morals? How can a man of sound morals join the Labour Party in the first place? Edward Scicluna has doggedly supported the Malta Labour Party through the terrible years of Dom Mintoff’s and Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici’s dictatorships. What person of sound morals would have done that?

He ran on the Labour ticket and has supported the Triad throughout the Panama scandal. He is still there, busy approving their overspending and writing the cheques for their corrupt contracts and crony appointments, pretending all is fine and dandy. He’s as amoral and self-serving as all the rest.

What government authorities can and can’t produce is up to them. The point here is that the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists does not give information to state authorities, and its associate media organisations are bound over likewise.

The Minister of Finance is anything but stupid. I would venture he would make a credible prime minister as having observed him for a good number of years (even when he was chairman of the Malta Financial Services Authority) he has always struck me as a person of sound morals and intellectual capability.

I am sure there must be disquiet especially among those parliamentarians who have sought to earn a just and a well regarded legacy under their watch, and that such aims may still be attainable under the leadership of an individual of Professor Scicluna’s perceived attributes. If only his colleagues in parliament were to rally behind him and salvage the island’s reputation …

That’s not the video I was talking about, though. There’s a much earlier one in which he momentarily freezes when asked the question because he wasn’t sure what information was out there.

In this video, he’s confident in brushing the journalist off, because he knows the journalist doesn’t have the information.
