In reply to Daphne Caruana Galizia. I've also noticed the odd habit that in conversation people often say " kif nghidu bil-Malti " . . . followed by some English expression. Such as "kif nghidu bil-Malti nothing ventured nothing gained".

You know I’m not one to stick up for anyone in this crooked government, not least Noddy, but when Malta joined the Eurozone everything at Tal-Lira became 2 euros. These days (I don’t know about 2014) they even stock items that cost up to 20 euros.

I’ve always wondered why Maltese people always say ‘in Maltese we say’ before going on to repeat a Maltese proverb or expression.

I mean, it’s obviously in Maltese, isn’t it.
