"It understands that some Governments simply cannot, or refuse, to protect their own citizens."

It is in cases like these that I wonder how a citizen is expected to exhaust legal recourse in his home country before being able to access the European Court for Human Rights.

One's optimum productive years will have taken a serious blow - which is the intention of the persecutor - during the time it takes to exhaust legal recourse in the home country. The persecutor will have achieved his intention.

It should be time that these words are taken to include Maltese who are not protected by the institutions that are meant to guarantee their safety and basic human rights, and where this lack of protection stems from the Government itself.

Joseph Muscat is now showing his true colours, and that he lied when he had to reverse his decision of using pushbacks when he got in government.

Together with his weak and weary Foreign Minister George Vella (ask Sai of Shanghai), he has recycled their pushback plan, to show
how though they are with securing our and the EU’s shores.

“Now its’ time to close down the route from Libya to Italy” said yesterday, the EU Donald Tusk , who hails Poland whose refugee compatriots, in their thousands, made it to the Caspian Sea crossing in crowded boats to Iran. How ironic.

The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Federica Mogherini, in Brussels declared a couple of days ago, “We disagree with the Executive order (signed by Trump) on Jan 27” but then she continues “We celebrate the fall of walls and building bridges”.

Is it possible that the lie so blatantly and show the EU’s hypocrisy towards desperate migrants, many of them children.

The EU’s call is to provide “a line of protection” but really it is following Trumpesque methods of effectively building a wall by marooning thousand of asylum seekers inside chaotic Libya.

I cannot understand how, as reported by the media, the IOM and UNHCR can agree to involve themselves in such a pending humanitarian mess and tragedy.

We have to actively demand that particularly Malta’s MEPs and decent politician will not be afraid to oppose such obscene proposals, supposedly hatched up by our little pushback Joseph Muscat.

These plans are absolutely shameful and betray the most basic EU’s democratic fundamental principles.

Let us wait a bit more and see what plan the EU leaders manage to decide.
