Simples. The switchers were those who were doing some haxi under the Nationalist government, and wanted to go to hypermegahaxi under Labour. The ones who are doing the hypermeghaxi want to keep it this way, so they will keep supporting Labour.

Those who didn’t quite manage to reach hypermegahaxi, perhaps only getting in some kilohaxi will support Labour because they still want to reach that goal.

Aside from a few exceptions, it’s not the switchers of 2013 who will switch in 2018. It’s the Laburisti on an average income (the so-called ‘Laburisti genwini’).

In reply to Daphne Caruana Galizia. Yes, it was all about getting the Nationalists out of power, with no real regard for what a Labour government would really be like. It was quite clear to me from the outset that Muscat and his cronies were going to be bad for Malta if they got elected. It was almost a no brainer to vote Nationalist. I wish Malta had a viable alternative to the Nationalists, but it doesn't. Such a tragedy.

I would like to suggest a further amendment to the proposed law. If the plaintiff instituting a libel case is found to have claimed defamation which claim the Court declares to be untrue as the supposedly defamatory comment are based on proven facts, than the accused should be awarded a compensation equal to what would have been paid to the plaintiff if he/she were proved to be justified as a compensation for tarnishing his/her own reputation.

This would make lodging of frivolous libel cases (particularly politicians) to harass journalists.

Only then would justice be served.
