Seems the trolls are on the defensive as they are trying very hard to disrupt newspapers’ polls. This is also an attack on freedom of expression and a threat for democracy.

They have targeted the poll on The Malta Independent, about Chris Cardona.

They have the tools and the resources but not the brains to use them intelligently.

If they think that online polls are important and need to be ‘won’, they should do it subtly and produce credible results.

If the results were, for example, 55% in favour of Cardona, one could imagine it to be genuine. But 76% is so absurd that nobody takes it seriously so the whole exercise becomes counter-productive.

If Labour supporters feel the need to tamper with the poll, it suggests that the genuine results are not so favourable to the government.

It’s not people though. Just before the election I had posted an image showing that over 10,000 votes had been posted in a few minutes, when usually Times polls have respondent numbers in the low thousands.

In all probablity this hasn’t changed and it’s just a script being run to game the poll.
