The point he misses is that the format of Thake’s show is ringing politicians and catching them unawares. The format of Balzan’s show is supposed to be serious discussion, in which you ring people by agreement AND WHEN THEY HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FOLLOW THE SHOW.

The whole point of a live telephone call is that the person you’ve phone has been watching the show and can stick in their two-cents’ worth. But that’s not possible when the show is recorded. They would have phoned me ‘blind’, and I would have had to comment without having a clue about what they’d been talking about.

So they attack first. I’m accustomed to it. Lots of women I know are. First you allow it to condition your behaviour so that you go out of your way to be nice to them so that they don’t think you are snubbing them. Then they interpret that as some kind of personal interest, and when they realise that it’s not, they turn hostile, aggressive and violent.
