And like you, I was so bloody wrong.

They were in it for personal gain from day one. The Panama Papers showed that the top triad were expecting kickbacks that could not be channelled into Maltese banks. Money, persons of trust, development permits, state appointments for ex-wives (a twist on alimony) – name it, and it was done.

In perspective, I guess it would be impossible for one or two individuals to be decent, and remain so. They would have been dragged into the corruption and mire of the others, so that all their asses would be covered, with nobody being able to pull out of the whole quagmire unscathed.

Forget it. They need to be kicked out.
